Getting
Started - Beginners
Welcome!
The Academy is an incredibly friendly place so you'll
feel at home in no time. We have regular six week foundation
classes suitable for beginners.

There
are three ways of joining the club. Paying your fees Annually,
six monthly or monthly which is the most popular. For
the foundation course your initial training fee is £160
which includes six weeks training. This includes your
training twice per week in the foundation classes plus
any number of other recommended classes you'd like to
take, plus free bag gloves, a club t-shirt, and hand wraps
and a years martial arts insurance, all you need to get
started. The classes are two one hour sessions per week
at 7.30 on a Tuesday and Thursday.
Monthly
training fees. After completing the foundation course
or joining after an assessment monthly training fees are
£75 per month payable by direct debit. This entitles
you to more than twenty classes per week from which to
choose. Please note we don't put people on contracts
or tie them in, in any way. You are free to leave at any
time
On
the foundation course you'll learn all the basic kickboxing
and JKD skills plus realistic self defence moves. We normally
get beginners to venture out and try other classes after
their first month however if you want to stay in these
classes then that's fine. There's no pressure, go at the
pace you can handle..
These
courses are very popular so to avoid disappointment reserve
your place in plenty of time.You can secure your place

form from this site and sending it in with your fee,
or even better contact us on the phone or come in and
say hello.
Frequently asked questions:
What
should I wear? You must wear the Bob Breen T-shirt
provided and loose, comfortable jogging trousers or shorts
and trainers.
Do
I need any equipment? All the basic equipment you
will need for our chosen Beginners Introductory Programme
is included in your initial payment.
Am
I fit enough? An average level of fitness is required.
You will be asked to fill in a simple health questionnaire
which will alert us to any major problems, but if you
have and concerns, please ask and we will be happy to
advise you.
Can
I train in any of the other classes? During the first
month in addition to the beginners classes you can take
part in any of the weaponry (stick fighting and knife
defence classes) In following months you can do up to
nineteen classes per week..
What
happens at the end of the course? Towards the end
of your Beginners introductory programme you will be given
a choice of classes that we recommend to continue your
progress at a time to suit you. Do these recommended classes
to start as they cover the fundamentals strongly. We have
a core grading syllabus 'the academy blend' derived from
five different martial arts in which you can grade up
to black belt and beyond. Join our other world class black
belts!. Any of the staff instructors will be happy to
give you advice on ways to progress and be happy to help
you in any way you need.
